Street magic is a kind of magic performed on a city street, usually surrounded by strangers, and so it presents a special challenge to the magician; to draw a crowd, to keep the crowd entertained amid all the distractions of city life, and to entice the crowd to tip the performer to pay for his time and efforts. Related to the pure street magician is the Pitchman, who actually tries to sell the items he uses in his performance to the crowd.
