Biography

While Jean-Pierre was in his late teens, his friend's parents performed a trick which captivated the young man. He then joined a magic club in Nice, France. In the early 1970s, he meet Philippe Fialho and Jacques Tandeau who brought American magicians to the French Riviera which included the likes of Dai Vernon, Fred Kaps, Ed Marlo, and John Hamman. Jean-Pierre benefited from their masterful presentations. In the 1980s, following a meeting with Richard Vollmer, he began to take an interest again and became a magic teacher in the Nice-magie Association. He only stayed there for a few years, before founding the Topic Magic Club, an independent association. For around ten years, Jean-Pierre successively set up four magic shops (each lasting approximately two years) in Nice and gave lessons. In 1990, he released the VHS cassette titled Cartes Fantasies which made him known throughout the world. Richard Ross then encouraged him to enter the FISM competition in Lausanne, which he won with his Champagne routine. Jean-Pierre then became a full-time illusionist.[1]

Jean-Pierre's audience is essentially a magician's audience. He does not prefer seminars, galas, and restaurants (table-hopping) because these kind of events offer poor-performance conditions. Jean-Pierre performs magic like if he was at home with friends which helps him create a better esthetic for his performance.[2]
