John Henry Anderson Jr., the eldest son of John Henry Anderson "The Great Wizard of the North", became a magician also.[1]
His apprenticeship was served by assisting his famous father. At the conclusion of their second world tour, his father returned to Scotland while Junior remained in America at the age of eighteen to start his own professional career.
In Conjurers' Monthly Magazine, June 1908 (Vol. 2, No. 10), Harry Houdini stated that "John Henry Anderson, Jr., divorced his first wife and married Miss Angeline Trumeller in St. Louis, Mo., on November 18, 1867, calling her Leona in his advertising matter." Houdini would later write to Fredrick Powell in 1918 that he heard that John Anderson Jr. died (at the early age of 35) while confined in jail.[2]
Anderson Jr. helped Professor E. Cooper Taylor get his start as a professional magician.
