Jonathan Cape

Jonathan Cape Ltd was founded in 1921 by Jonathan Cape and Wren Howard. The firm established itself as one of the leading literary publishers in London, publishing T.E. Lawrence’s The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Ernest Hemingway, Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons and, in 1953, Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale, the first of the James Bond books.

Cape is still a fiction publishers in Britain today as part of the Random House Group.[1]

In 1987 they published Paul Daniels and the Story of Magic by John Fisher
