L. Vosburgh "Voz" Lyons (1892-1976) was a neuropsychiatrist in New York, a close friend of Theodore Annemann, and contributed numerous effects to Jinx, Phoenix and Ibidem.
Biography
His Handkerchief from Rope, a knotted silk through rope routine, appears in Tarbell Course in Magic, Volume 6 (1954) and a mentalism routined called Graphology is in The Jinx No. 74, june 1st 1940 and in Annemann's Practical Mental Magic (1944). Also created a version of the DEVANO RISING CARDS (with Devano) manufactured by Lou Tannen and a version of the Linking Pins in The Phoenix no. 47, November 5th, 1943.
He illustrated a number of books including How To Do Rope Tricks (1957) - The Expanded Edition by Harold Denhard and Magic As A Hobby: New Tricks for Amateur Performers by Bruce Elliott (1948).
In August 1975, while driving to his vacation home in Maine, Lyons suffered a stroke and hit a tree. He was later found and taken to a hospital in Maine. He was then transferred to one in New York City and eventually to a nursing home where after a series of more strokes he died. [1]
