Louis Apollinaire Christian Emmanuel Comte (1788 - 1859), born in Geneva, was only 26 when he first performed for King Louis XVIII. Later, King Louis-Philippe, made him a "Chevalier of the Legion of Honor". He billed himself as "The King's Conjurer" and owned a theater in France. Comte could perform sleight of hand and ventriloquism. He became a friend of Robert-Houdin.

In 1814, Louis Comte may have become the first conjurer on record to pull a white rabbit out of a top hat.
Invented the flourish to produce two cards for his trick Lady Looking Glass generally attributed to Hofzinser as the Hofzinser's Throw.
