The Magic Circle Five-Foot Shelf of Magic Books by Matthew Field MIMC appeared in the July 2013 issue of The Magic Circular.[1]

Based on the Five-Foot Shelf of Magic by Theodore Annemann published in his May 1935 issue of The Jinx, Matthew Field surveyed wrote to 23 Members of The Magic Circle, in the U.K. and abroad in compiling a new list. He described the criteria as being magic books all members should have read in their lifetime ‒ not individuals’ Ten Favorite Magic Books. He whittled Annemann’s list of 37 down to 11 books and added eight others which had been published since 1935 as a suggested starting point, a total of 19. Eventually, 15 individuals responded and a list of 28 titles comprising 36 volumes was assembled.
