Marcus Bloch was a professional magician, specializing in sleight

of hand, small magic and mental mysteries starting in 1920.[1]

He contributed effects to the Sphinx in the 1930s and one to Genii in the 1950s.

In the 1940s, he spent time in Egypt and was writing a series of articles on Egyptian Magic for a magazine called "Fakir"[2]

By the 1950s, it was reported that he had started performing hypnotism and was known as "Dr. Bloch" and was publishing the "Journal of Hypnotism".[3]

In the late 1950s, he wrote a series of articles for The Zombie on hypnotism and started the "Institute of Magicians" and "Institute of Hypnotists" in New York City. He also performed as "The Great Marco".[4]

In late 1958, you start to see advertisements in Genii for "Dr. Marcus Bloch, L-Hy. 'World's Greatest Hypnotist, Santa Maria, Calif."

In 1974, an advertisement appears in Genii for "Dr. Marcus Bloch, LHY, President of the 'Eastern Magical Society', New York, New York". Then in 1985, there is an event listed for the "World Convention of Magicians From the Eastern Magical Society" to be held in June 1986, with Dr. Marcus Bloch in New York City as the contact.

His wife, Elaine Bloch, appeared in the 1950s as "The Mysterious Madam Pearl".[5]
