Mardoni (1904-1987), born Clayton M. Hines, performed a two person mentalism act with his wife Louise as "Mardoni And Louise."

Biography

He started out as a teacher in Elburn, Illinois then began his performing career in the Chautauqua and Lyceum circuit. He developed a two person mentalism act with his wife Louise and performed as "Mardoni And Louise". They also featured magic and escapes. They toured with the USO during World War II.

Mardoni was an experienced aviator and used his own planes to fly to engagements. His planes were decorated with a magic rabbit and hat specially painted by Harlan Tarbell. Genii did a cover story in June, 1938 and in the July, 1984 issue of the Linking Ring, John Booth devoted five pages of his memoirs to "Mardoni and Louise: The Best Kept Secret in Magic".

Mardoni and Louise never retired and were playing professional dates until late 1986.

They were elected into the SAM Hall of Fame and received the Performing Fellowship from the Academy of Magical Arts.[1][2]
