At time of joining the IBM in 1936,Zen was an Assistant Postmaster. Together with the John Snyder, Jr. and Frank Carter, they founded the Houdini Club of Wisconsin.
Zens contributed effects to many books and magazines and was creator of the "Miracle Pocket to Pocket Trick"
He died just a few days after attending the I.B.M. Convention in St. Louis at the age of 75.
