Milton F. Andrews was a a cardsharp from Hartford, Connecticut who died during a murder-suicide in 1905 in San Francisco just as the police were closing in to question him about the killing in Colorado.
He was a leading candidate for the search of the author of the 1902 book The Expert at the Card Table by S. W. Erdnase (most likely a pseudonym), a book detailing sleight of hand and cheating techniques using playing cards.
Based on a lead provided by Edgar Pratt, Martin Gardner researched him and provided details in the book The Man Who Was Erdnase written with Bart Whaley and Jeff Busby (1991)[1]
