Rev. Sherman Epler, a Methodist minister, served as the I.B.M. Chaplain from 1929 to 1941.

Rev. Epler used magic to teach and illustrate Christian messages for children and adults. Epler had put on more than 2000 professional performances

He held I.B.M. No. 545 since joining them in 1926 and was a member of the Order of Merlin Excalibur. He was a regular attendee at early I.B.M. Conventions.

In 1980, at the age of 89, he participated in the National Workshop of the Clown, Mime, Puppet, and Dance Ministry Convention when magic was added to the program.

Other memberships included the S.A.M. (Life Member) and the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, which he wrote a column for their Christian Conjurer magazine. [1]
