Dr Saram R. Ellison (1852 - 1918) was co-founded with W. Golden Mortimer and Francis Martinka of the Society of American Magicians in 1902 and was member No. 1.

He graduated as a physician and surgeon March 1873.

He was an amateur magic collector with over 1500 volumes of books, among them many foreign works dating back to the sixteenth century. He owned at the time one of the largest collections of Magic Wands in the world. He donated his books to the New York City Public library.[1][2].[3]
