Ted Carrothers was a magic shop owner, promoter, and magician in Toledo, Ohio.

A native of St. Louis, he came to love his adopted hometown of Toledo, where he served as a mentor to many of the area's young magicians.

He ran the Ted Carrothers Magic Shop for more than two decades. Carrothers did thousands of performances during his career and was the last performer on the stage of the former Paramount Theater in Toledo. One of most distinctive features of Carrothers's magic act when performing in public was his use of a ladder when performing before large crowds. He would stand on the top of a ladder while performing magic so all could see.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and founder of the Abra-Cadabra Club.

He died apparently while attempting to install a ceiling fan.[1][2]
