The Art of Modern Conjuring, Magic, and Illusions, published circa 1885, contains many items from Professor Hoffmann's Modern Magic (1876), by Frank Lind using the pseudonym of Prof. Henri Garenne.


It contains possibly the first description of the Folding Coin used to do The Coin in the Bottle, page 80, "To Pass a Penny into an Ordinary Glass Bottle".
