Theodore Brameld (1904-1987), helped pay his way through college performing as "Aladdin the Mystifier" and founded the Amateur Magicians Correspondence Club (A.M.C.C.) to help bring magicians that wanted to correspond about magic together.
Biography
Brameld published, at the age of fifteen, his organization's magazine, the A.M.C.C. Review, from November 1919 to December 1920 number.
He eventually dropped out of magic and became a leading educator who supported the educational philosophy of social reconstructionism. He taught at Long Island University and later at New York University and Boston University and wrote a number of books on educational theory.[1][2]
Through his club, Gene Gordon and Len Vintus became acquainted and later started as as a similar letter-writing society called the International Brotherhood of Magicians.[3]
