Vernon Cook (1908 - 1988), raised in Sheridan, Wyoming was a magician and science fiction enthusiast.

By 1939, he moved to Great Falls, Montana and had a magic library containing more than 700 volumes of all kinds including complete files of all American magic magazines.

In the 1940s, during the height of his performing career, he was known as "the Montana Mountebank".

He contributed routines to periodicals including Genii.

He was an active member of the IBM for more then 25 years.
