Wayne Shumway, Sr. (c.1902-1973) was an active performer for much of his career in the Chicago area.
Biography
Starting in the late 1920s, took a job bartending and did a few tricks for the customers just to break the monotony. Later he would own to lounges.
During World War II, he was a Coast Guard recruiting officer.[1]
His wife Hazel, and children, Wayne Jr., and Carol Ann, assisted him in his illusion show, "Wayne & His Magic".[2]
Wayne was a Regional Vice President of S.A.M. and the founder of Assembly No. 64. The IBM Ring No. 173 in Hammond Indiana was named in his honor.
