William "Bill" Turner was a writer of Western novels and amateur magician.
Turner moved to Evanston, Illinois with his family when he was 12. He graduated from Knox College in the 1930's and worked in the Midwest and East Coast on newspapers, in advertising agencies and, for a short time, as editor of a magazine in Iowa. He returned to Tacoma in 1965 to devote full time to writing novels.
