Wilton S. Clements (1898-1985), known as Wil Staar, was very active in the I.B.M.
Biography
A native of Kentucky, Clements began his interest in magic at age of eleven. He joined the U.S. Marines during WWI, while still in high school and eventually retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Commander.
He was a graduate of George Williams College (1931), and earned a coaching certificate at Northwestern University in 1936. He took a Master's Degree in Education at the University of Chicago and served some 38 years with the Chicago Board of Education as an athletic coach and instructor.
He held I.B.M. No. 8773 beginning in 1946 and was a member of Ring 76 in San Diego. He was also a member and past president of Ring 43 in Chicago.
Clements had served on the I.B.M. Executive Committee from 1977 to 1980. He also had served as a Terr. Vice President for California and as Ring Counselor.[1]
