Theper graduated from Washington University in 1941 and worked for the Federal Government at Rolla, Missouri,  involved in finding uranium for atomic weapons. To help sell War Bonds, he helped put together a magic act with a friend raising money for the war effort. 
 
Theper's forte was chemical magic, where he used his chemistry background to develop or improve magical effects based on chemical
reactions.

Harold Theper (1921-1988) was a past president of IBM Ring One in St. Louis.[1]

Biography

Theper graduated from Washington University in 1941 and worked for the Federal Government at Rolla, Missouri, involved in finding uranium for atomic weapons. To help sell War Bonds, he helped put together a magic act with a friend raising money for the war effort.

Theper's forte was chemical magic, where he used his chemistry background to develop or improve magical effects based on chemical reactions.

In 1947, he returned to St. Louis, working as a chemist for the Food and Drug Administration.[2]

In 1995, Harold Theper was awarded the St. Louis Magical Heritage Award posthumously.[3]
