50 years ago
In 1961 a few selected events were:
- Long Tack Sam and Fred Keating die.
- Dai Vernon's Further Inner Secrets of Card Magic by Lewis Ganson was published.
- Professional Card Magic by Cliff Green was published.
- Milt Larsen convinced his brother Bill Larsen Jr. to resurrect the Academy of Magical Arts. The first members were all Genii subscribers.
100 years ago
In 1911 a few selected events were:
- A Magician in Many Lands by Charles Bertram was published.
- Our Magic by Nevil Maskelyne and David Devant was published.
- The Great Lafayette dies in May
- John Calvert was born on August 5.
