Louis Gautier (1866-1943), a portrait painter, was an amateur comedy magician.[1]

Biography

Gautier was a founding member of the Magic Circle and the third president of The Magicians' Club (1930-34).[2]

He originally studied singing, developed throat trouble so took up portrait painting.

Gautier wrote a column of articles in "The Stage" under the title "Magicana". [3][4]
