Herbert J. Collings (1883-1958) was a professional magician beginning in 1899.

Biography

Initially he performed an evening dress act " Wit, Wizardry and a Whistle". A busy working professional magician, Collings changed in 1923 to a silent Chinese act, Fu Chi. That act developed and in 1934 he became the elaborate costumed Hu Hung Collings which again later transformed, in 1937, into the hilarious, comedy act of Col Ling Soo.[1]

This skilled magician also perfected a plate spinning act.

Collings was a founder and a president of the Magic Circle from 1928 to 1931 and again from 1954 to 1958.[2][3]

He worked for ENSA during World War Two.
