Murray (b.1901-d.1988) performed for several decades all over the world, best known for his publicity escape stunts he devised. He may have been the person who coined the word "Escapologist". Some regarded him better than Houdini.

Biography

He performed in London in 1933 started his act with Shooting through a Woman, The Pin Cushion girl, selected cards on a sword, The Girl without a Middle, Siberian Handcuff Escape and ended with the Escape from a Slotted Box while Immersed in a Tank of Water.

He retired in 1950 and opened Murray's Magic Mart in England.

In 1986, he received the Masters Fellowship the Academy of Magical Arts.
