Bertol kept detailed index of all the material that appeared in the various magic magazines to which he subscribed.
Bertol moved to New York City at age 8, later retiring to Arlington, Virginia by the 1950s.
Lou attended many conventions and was Virginia's representative for M.A.E.S.
Bertol died of a heart attack which he suffered while attending a meeting of Assembly 23 in Washington D.C.[2]
