Biography
He joined the SAM at age 18. Developed comedy magic, working close-up and MC work for magic conventions in late 1950s, and early 1960s. Co-wrote a column in Hugard's Magic Monthly, with John V. Hope, on Coin Magic. He was a member of F.A.M.E. (Future American Magical Entertainers), but left New York City to work as woodworker in mid 1960s.
Olson developed a 19th century magic show, performing as black magician Richard Potter, the first successful American magician. Worked in trade shows for Tommy Tucker in early 1970s. In mid-1970s, he began work at the museum Old Sturbridge Village(OSV) in Massachusetts, a 25 year career. Leaving OSV in 2001, Olson went on to pursue a successful career as a performing magician, with museums, historical societies, private parties, and corporate shows.
He is a charter member of the Nordic Knights of Necromancy.
