Coe Norton (1912-1998) was an actor, magician and teacher.With his wife, actress Laura Lee Norton (d. June 23, 2001), he enjoyed a long and successful career in the theater.[1]

Biography

Norton learned magic from his father and a Mysto Magic set when young. He received a degree in drama from Carnegie Tech, and after serving in the Navy during World War II, he went to Hollywood to learn acting. In 1951, he moved to

New York to pursue his acting career, which led to Broadway appearances.

While in New York, Norton served as president of the Magician's Guild of America.

In addition to being a TV soap opera regular on Love of Life, Secret Storm, and Search for Tomorrow, Norton starred in the 1954 "Mandrake the Magician" TV series. He also had ongoing roles on U.S. Steel Hour, Omnibus, Naked City, and True Story. He created national commercials with magic for Viceroy, Thumbelina Dolls, Nestle's Chocolate, and Cricket Lighters.[2]
