Scottish Association of Magical Societies (SAMS) was formed on December 16, 1951 from magical clubs in Scotland. Proposed by Max Raskin, a member of the Paisley Magical Society, he helped bring together delegates from Dundee Magic Circle, Edinburgh Institute of Magicians, Kirkcaldy Magic Circle, Kilmarnock Magic Circle, Paisley Magical Society, and Perth Magic Circle to unite all Scottish magical clubs.
The first issue of their club magazine, SAMS, was published in March 1952 with John Geddes as the editor and their first convention took place in June 1952.
Honorary Presidents have been Dr. Sir Alexander Cannon, Peter Warlock and Dr Eddie Dawes.
