Dany Trick

'Dany Trick', a French magician was born in the central part of Brittany, The End of the Old World or the Beginning, it depends of the way you look at it, in june the 3rd 1944. He was inspired at an early age by seeing a touring magician and at the age of 7 he learned a few card tricks discovered in magazines for young boys.His young boarding scool mates were dazzled. Dany started his career on stage by performing and acting in classic plays by Molière and Racine. Then he took magic seriously. Roy Baker was his first mentor and taught him the basics during a few years. Then he got aquainted with Edwin Hooper of the famous Supreme magic C°. He spent most of his vacations at Bideford, over the Channel, where he stayed with Edwin at the Widgery. He used to dem behind the stand of Supreme at a lot of convention in Great Britain and abroad. Later on he wrote a few articles in the Magigram and started his own chronicles for La Revue de la Prestidigitation, the official organ of the AFAP and L'Illusionniste, the oldest French magic magazine. He was deputy editor of this magazine. He had his own TV shows and seies on France FR3 (Chanel 3) and appeared on national television quite often not only in France but in Spain, Holland, Great Britain. He was often on radio programmes and conceived special tricks for this medium with the help of his good friend Ken de Courcy. He founded a magic dealer firm called SUPER TRICKS and published a magazine called LES NIOUZES DE STANK AR VEL, the name of his hamlet in Mellac. He has published quite a lot of books and written a few himself. He is very proud of being an A.I.M.C, Associate Member of the Inner Magic Circle) with silver star London. He is a major collector of ventriloquism books and memorabilia as well as magic litterature. He has one of the largest private collection of vent dummies in Europe, lots of them having been made by Len Vintus and others having belonged to famous vents such as Denis Patten or Pat Page. He also collects vintage books about the history of playing cards and automata. Other hobbies of his: collecting magic tokens and stamps with a magic or ventriloquism theme. He gave a lecture at the Magic Circle in London at one of their Magic History Days about his large collection of magic stamps.
