Louis Gautier, a portrait painter, was an amateur comedy magician.[1]

Gautier was a founding member of the Magic Circle and the third president of The Magicians' Club (1930-34).[2]

He originally studied singing, developed throat trouble so took up portrait painting.

He wrote a column of articles in the "Stage" magazine under the title "Magicana". [3]
