The Hermann pass is a card control that allows the magician to secretly cut the deck. It was invented by Alexander Herrmann (1844–1896). The handling was originally published in Ellis Stanyon's Serial Lessons in Conjuring, which were a series of lessons published from 1899 to 1910.
