Larry Bruno
BornJanuary 27, 1922
DiedDecember 24, 2010 (age 88)

Larry Bruno was a devoted amateur magician and Joe Namath’s high school football coach and mentor.

An entire chapter titled “Magic” is dedicated to him in Namath’s biography.

Larry Bruno was a talented amateur magician from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Bruno was one of the 8 founders of "The Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley", a club founded outside Pittsburgh, PA in 1953 and today also known as "SAM Assembly #157".

Larry Bruno's profession was coaching football. He turned down a draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers to instead coach high school football, as in those days it actually paid better. But Larry credited his interest in performing magic as the influence to his unique style of playing football, and Joe Namath credits that style as a secret to his success.
