George Heller (1860-1928), raised in Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D.C., was a manufacturer and amateur magician.

Biography

He was one of the 24 organizers of the Society of American Magicians and was member number 23. While serving as first Vice-President of the Society from 1921 to 1923, he filled in as president during Houdini's long tours. He was the Treasurer of the Society from 1923 until his death. [1]

Heller was a manufacturer of waistcoats and president of George W. Heller, Inc. in New York City. He spent the greater part of his life in New York City. He was the friend of many well known magicians and accumulated a large collection of magical apparatus and books on magic. He was a trustee of the Unitarian church at 110th Street, near Broadway, New York City, and for a number of years gave a performance of magic each year for the benefit of the church.[2]
