Nick Trost (March 16, 1935 - October 23, 2008) was a prolific author of booklets and creator of packet card tricks.

Biography

Trost first became enthused about magic when he was seven or eight years old, after seeing a magic show staged by the members of IBM Ring 3 in Troy, Ohio. He then met Bob Lewis of Dayton, Ohio, who sparked his keen interest in card magic.

An alumnus of Ohio State University, he served as a private in the U.S. Army in 1957.

Trost wrote and edited a column on card magic in The New Tops from May 1961 until December 1994.

He had a Hocus Pocus Parade in Linking Ring, Vol. 34, No. 12 (February 1955) and received the award for Originality of a Card Effect at the IBM Convention in Pittsburgh, PA that same year.

Trost died of brain cancer after being diagnosed earlier in 2008.
