John Randall Brown (1851-1926), a newspaperman and mentalist, was one of the first American artist to perform a "Muscle Reading" act and the first person to perform a one-man mentalism act (focused entirely on creating the illusion of mind reading and not relying on any confederates).

Biography

Some sources suggest that his real first name was Jacob.

Brown was doing Blindfold Acts as early as 1885. He later taught muscle reading to Washington Irving Bishop who became a leading performer with the technique.[1]

Brown ended his stage career in 1923 and began to take local jobs as a photographer and printer in Minneapolis.[2]
