The New York School for Magicians was founded in New York City by George Schindler, Frank Garcia, Arnold Freed and Fred Ponger in 1973 and operated until 1977.
The school was opened at a Ramada Inn, and they taught an eight-week course based on the beginners material Schindler had used at a local high school. Seven people enrolled for our first class.
Three hundred students passed through over the four years of the school's existence. They hired other teachers including Bob Elliott, Bob Baxter, and Lou Lancaster.[1][2]
