Odaba ( Ottorino "Otto" Dalla Baratta) (1909-1983) was an Italian illusionist, painter and sculptor.
He graduated accountant and then became branch manager of the Olivetti company. At that time his hobbies were painting and sculpture.
In the 1940's he invented a special shorthand system which was published in 1945 by a publisher which also published two fundamental Italian magic books. By 1956 he had become a skillful magician and joined the Club Magico Italiano. He focused on mentalism and wrote numerous articles for Magia Moderna.
Starting in 1968, Baratta began working on comedy magic, creating the character of Babà Alì. He invented many original effects, among them was his waistcoat with nine color changes.[1]
