Biography

Sipes, who turned to show business at an early age, managed an opera house in Iowa staging ministrels and stock company shows.

After marrying Lavada Reedin in 1901, she toured with her bird act of Java doves to complete Arthur's magic act.

Shortly before the decline of vaudeville, they settled in Waterloo, Iowa where Sipes was employed as bus driver for 25 years. After his retirement from the bus company he was appointed by the State governor as inspector for the State Bureau of Labor. An office he held for four years until his death.

He was a member of the IBM and SAM, attending many of the Conventions.

In the May, 1952 issue of The Linking Ring, his last article to magicians was entitled "Keeping Magic For Magicians".[1]
