Knights of the Ebony Wand (KEW) was formed in 1940 by La Salle, Illinois area magicians and Ed Reno was named honorary president for life.[1]

Charter members included Eddie Arthur, J. Ray Beffel, and James (Mysto) Marshall.

They held an annual spring benefit show starting in 1942 with such titles as "Magic Revue of '42", "Magic Jamboree of '43", "Magic and More in '44," "SakesAlive of '45" and "Fiddlestix of '46."

The published the K. E. W. Newsletter around 1945 and '46.

They were active at least into the 1960s.
