Matthias Buchinger (June 2, 1674 - January 1, 1740 in Ireland) was a torso man born without legs and hands, the last of nine children.
Biography
Buchinger was urged by his parents to exercise his body. He learned to draw and write and to play various instruments: Flute, trumpet, bagpipes and drum. He also mastered magic tricks. His Cups and Balls is often praised.
After the death of his parents, he had himself displayed at fairground festivals, selling his calligraphic artwork to the public.
Work
In early 2016, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York displayed Buchinger's drawings from the collection of Ricky Jay,[1]
