Forks Hotel

The Forks Hotel was a restaurant in Cheektowaga New York (near Buffalo) owned by Eddie Fechter, which he bought it in 1958, where he would perform.

Over the years the reputation of "Forks" grew and the magicians who have come out of Forks went on to make a mark in the magic community.

IBM Ring NO. 12, in Buffalo, New York and the SAM Karl Norman Assembly No. 143 would hold their meetings there as well as the annual Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic each April.

The regulars through the 1970's were: Ray Mertz, MIke Hillburger, Harrison Carroll, Lou Gallo, Mike Skinner, Bill Okal, Karl Norman, [Paul Gertner]], Carl Wiesinger, Rob Allen, Brian Gillis, Howie Port, Alan Hayden, Derek Dingle, Mike Lewinski, Jim Kaczmarz, Jim Gabor, Doug Henning, Billy Dunn, Obie O'Brien, Jay Malbrough, Derek Dingle, Bruce Ikefugi and Tom Dennaro.[1]

There is a historical site marker that reads "The original site of Forks Hose Company #2 established Oct 11th 1911 and later the site of the Forks Hotel, famous for Eddie Fechter's magic.", in Cheektowaga, New York at the intersection of Broadway (New York State Route 130) and Union Road (Route 277) in Buffalo New York.[2]
