John Eichler (c.1931-2001), an amateur magician, died in the World Trade Center attack while having breakfast at "Windows on the World."

Biography

After retiring as executive director of the white shoe Wall Street law firm of Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft in 1994, Eichler made his home in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.

He was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the Society of American Magicians and performed sleight-of-hand for friends.[1][2]

In remembrance of Eichler, The S.A.M. created the "Heroism and Patriot Medal" which is presented to the nominees who display unparalleled heroism or patriotic duty.[3]
