Archie Tear (1906-1986) was a part-time professional magician that began in 1919. [1]

Biography

He was one of the first magicians to be televised, performing on a program from the Baird Television Studios in 1932. He also appeared in the Panorama television program in 1958 and then in an experimental color television demonstration in 1959.

Tear was a Past President of the I.B.M. British Ring No. 25 in the years 1958-59. He was also a member of the Magic Castle (Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star), and a Past President of the Northampton Magicians' Club. Following his move to Lincoln, he joined the Lincoln Society of Magicians.[2]
