Associação Portuguesa de Ilusionismo (Portuguese Association of Illusion) was founded in 1976 in Portugal.

Over the years they have developed activities to promote the education of their members and the Illusion in Portugal. Regular membership meetings are conducted at its headquarters in Lisbon.

In 2000, the Association successfully recognized by the FISM World Congress. At the FISM Congress 2006, held in Stockholm, Sweden, two members of the API, Helder Guimarães and David de Sousa earned respectively the 1st prize and 2nd prize.[1]
