Ben "Benny" Chavez was a professional magician and owner of the Chavez Studio of Magic.[1]
Chavez moved to the United States in 1920 and was performing magic professional by 1922.[2]
He played the vaudeville circuit in the 1930s with his wife Marian, who took the stagename Delorys. The act of "Benny Chavez and Delorys" also toured Canada and Australia.
In 1938 their five year old daughter Ruth, died as a result of burns suffered in a burning house-trailer. The grieving couple ceased to travel and three years later decided to open a school for magicians called the Chavez Studio of Magic.[3]
In 1951 they moved the studio to Hollywood, California. After his death, Marian continued teaching.[4]
