Bernard M. L. Ernst (1879 - 1938) was an amateur magician and lawyer of Harry Houdini.[1]

Bernard's interest in magic began when he attended a performance of Frederick Eugene Powell while at the College of the City of New York, he later graduated from Columbia University. A partner in the law firm of Ernst, Cane and Berner, he specialized with copyright and theatrical matters.

He was elected president of the Society of American Magicians in 1926, after Houdini's death.

Ernst began writing the news column, "Among the Magicians", in the Sphinx (as well as being president of the The Sphinx Publishing Corporation) in the 1930s.[2][3]
