Charles Churchill Slayton( April 17,1887 - March 5, 1950 ), born in Springfield, Ohio, was a captain in the U.S. Navy and President of the Society of American Magicians (1947-48).

Slayton graduated from Annapolis in 1907. While in the U.S. Navy he was awarded the Navy Cross by the United States and the Cross of the Legion of Honor by France. Slayton was retired in 1935, but returned to active duty in World War II in the Hydrographic Office in Washington, D. C.

After joining the Society of American Magicians in 1925 and shortly after the International Brotherhood of Magicians he helped organize the Washington Assembly, and was its first President. Slayton made occasional contributions of effects and news items to the Sphinx.

His performed during World War 2, when for over a year he averaged more than two shows a week for the Washington Stage Door Canteen, the "Volunteer Camp Shows" of the Washington Recreation Department U.S.O. Clubs and other organizations. He also became a monthly fixture doing an afternoon shows at the Walter Reed and the Naval Hospital.
