David Avadon (1949 - 2009) was an author and an accomplished, working professional magician with a trademark specialty pickpocket act.

In the late 1960s, as Avadon-Black, he hitchhiked around America, performing for food, lodging and enough money to finance his journey.

He did technical consulting work for film and television and reviewed tricks for Genii magazine from 1991 to 1994 in a column called Sorcerer's Sidearms.
