Derrick Speight Template:PersonInfo was a champion skier and amateur magician that performed at conventions

Speight was Chairman of Council of The Magic Circle for 13 years. His work was instrumental in getting the London headquarters building of the Society built. He was also an avid collector of magic lantern slides and as a member and officer of the Magic Lantern Society. He had a working, 150 year-old magic lantern which he would utilize in demonstration/lectures.

He won the British Ring Shield (I.B.M.) with a routine, one of several he had, in which he utilized Rube Goldberg-ish contraptions to achieve magical ends. For the Shield award, he sawed a woman (actually a magazine called "Woman") in half , which was then restored.

Speight was, for 37 years, part of senior management at Marks & Spencer, a United Kingdom retailer.[1]

Awards
